Together, We Can Solve Cold Cases

FWPD Cold Case Support Group is a separate entity from the Fort Worth Police Department. The FWPD Cold Case Support Group is an official 501(c)3 non-profit that was established to support the criminal investigative efforts of the Fort Worth Police Department Cold Case Unit.

All donations will be available for use by the Fort Worth Police Department Cold Case Unit, but remain unattached from any city funding.

Solving Old Crimes, with New Technology.

The Fort Worth Police Department Cold Case Unit consists of detectives who are specially trained to re-visit homicide cases which were unable to be solved by previous detectives. The primary function of these detectives is to utilize current police tactics in the investigation, as well as applying the most up to date forensic technology toward examining the existing evidence.

Providing the funds for the necessary training, equipment, and forensic analysis is challenging to the city of Fort Worth, due to budgetary constraints. The FWPD Cold Case Support Group was organized to provide additional training, equipment, and forensic analysis which would otherwise be unavailable, or unreasonably delayed, to Cold Case detectives.

The FWPD Cold Case Support Group maintains this website through which donations can be made and citizens can receive information. 100% of the funding will be raised through public donations. Any equipment purchases will become the property of Fort Worth Police Department. The equipment will be assigned to the Homicide Cold Case detectives to better serve the citizens of Fort Worth, Texas.

Unfortunately no, we cannot earmark funds for solving specific cold cases due to legalities.

Funds raised will go towards advanced forensic genealogy, DNA testing, ballistics and other types of forensic testing by private forensic laboratories.
